History - When Phocyn was three her birth parents abandoned her to the creche of a northern weyr and promptly disappeared. The nan and harper who found her had been arguing over the care and teaching of the children in their charge when the toddler began to cry for food and attention. Startled out of the argument, the pair quickly began to try and discover the identity of the child and soon found no one would claim her. The girl was given the name Phocyn after they learned she answered only to 'Girl' and 'Child'.
As such, the pair of enemies decided it best to take her under their wing and created a united front in raising the child. To this day her original parents remain unknown. Phocyn was a surprise Impression to the Gold Dragon Brianoth, as she wasn't even on the Sands when it happened. The girl had been turned down by a Weyrling she was crushing on, but due to circumstance and tradition was unable to accept her feelings. As if called by the girl's broken heart, Brianoth stumbled and wobbled her way to the girl near the opening of the Hatching Sands where she had been tending the wounded of the Hatching. Phocyn had only enough time to blink before the gold was demanding food, attention, and love from her 'Girl'.
After graduating from Weyrling Training, Phocyn chose to transfer to another weyr where she hoped to find something more... in the stars, in the newer arrivals, or simply to belong somewhere special.
