Naming Conventions for Human Characters

There are a couple of different naming conventions when it comes to naming those on Pern-
1.) Names of those who are born in the Weyrs are usually given names that are derived from the names of their parents. (Example- Brownrider A'ren, and Weyrwoman Raeda have a daughter, who is named Araena, which is derived from her parents' names.)
2.) Those who hail from either the Holds, or Crafthalls do not always follow that custom. Parents usually choose the names of their children, and they are not always derived as a combination of their parents names. (Example- Petiron, and Merelan have a son named Robinton.)
3.) Pernese do not tend to have surnames. Only those who are wandering traders tend to have surnames, and usually the surnames are the same as the name of their train. (Example- Jayge Lilcamp)
